H is for Human Rights

I lost my sight
Because I had no rights

I lost my soul
In a pitiful hole

I lost my heart
Because I played no part

I lost my mind
In all the unkind

If I could breathe
I would not grieve

If I could sing
It would be Spring

If I could shout
I would have no doubt

And if I was free
I could be me.

  1. That's some real food for thought you dished up! Of course I subscribe to the philosophy that one person's rights or freedoms end where the next persons begin. Let us suffice it to say that we all have the God given right to be the best selves we can be and in doing so be true to ourselves and our Creator.

    1. I think it's complex when it come to freedoms in the Western world - where one person's freedom may infringe on someone else's but at a very basic level I think human rights is freedom from oppression and access to basic requirements of living: food, shelter, warmth, medical care.
